Abstract

A method of acquiring 3-D information from a real object via a stereometric system is presented. Three-dimensional (3-D) data of an object are acquired by (1) camera calibration; (2) stereo matching; (3) multiple stereo views covering the whole object; (4) geometrical computations to determine the 3-D coordinates for each sample point of the object. The analysis and the experimental results indicate that the method implemented is capable of measuring the spatial data of a real object with satisfactory accuracy.
