Abstract
A 17-year-old boy developed tracheal stricture following tracheostomy with a cuffed tube leading to recurrent acute respiratory obstruction. The patient was initially managed with frequent dilatations of the stricture so as to tide over the crisis of respiratory obstruction, pulmonary infection and healing of the tracheostomy stoma. Subsequently he was taken up for surgical excision of strictured segment of the trachea and an end-to-end anastomosis was successfully performed. Postoperative recovery was uneventful.
