Abstract

The development of modern braking and steering systems is no longer a question of the functionality alone. The interior and exterior noise characteristics of a vehicle performing a braking or parking manoeuvre may well move the question of comfort to the centre of attention and by doing so significantly influence its market acceptance. With the modern braking and steering systems, new procedures are neceßary. The TRW Automotive paper describes here how companywide succeßful product launches such as the electro-hydraulic steering systems can be guaranteed by considerable growth and development of the discipline Acoustics and Vibrations, so-called “NVH” (Noise Vibrations Harshneß) in automotive jargon, and by consequent focus on NVH from the product concept phase into its manufacturing phase.
