Abstract

A comparison is made between calculated and measured acoustic resonance frequencies for a T-tube. Measured distributions of the amplitude of the fluctuating pressure at resonance illustrate the possible modes with standing waves occurring in either part or the entire T-tube arrangement. In the practically interesting situation of a toroidal exit chamber, resonances excited by through-flow are shown to have frequencies in good agreement with those calculated from the T-tube analysis.
