Abstract

The acoustic radiation force on a fused silica sphere of the size parameter ka up to 100 is investigated experimentally with a view to complete a previous work [T. Hasegawa and K. Yosioka, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 58, 581–585 (1975)] and to develop an accurate method for determining the acoustic intensity in the high megahertz range. It is shown that the radiation force function Yp for a fused silica sphere in water is regarded as substantially equal to 0.90±0.04 over a wide range of ka greater than 30.
