Abstract

Environmental noise level is usually linked to the life quality of a certain place because it can affect its convenience of economy activities to its convenience of education activities. To find out the level of acceptable noise level, noise mapping needs to be done. This step is very useful in determining the characteristics of noise that occurs in the area. In this research, a series of environmental noise measurements had conducted in three different locations, which are SMA Negeri 15 Surabaya, SMA Khadijah Surabaya, and Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya. The measurement began with sound recording, then followed by distribution pattern analysis, power spectral density analysis, and spectrogram analysis. These parameters will be used as references in noise mapping. Based on the results of noise mapping in each location shows that SMA Negeri 15 Surabaya has a dominant frequency noise below 7 kHz with noise levels up to 45 dB. Whereas in other locations, which are SMA Khadijah Surabaya and Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya, the dominant frequency was below 10 kHz with noise levels up to 60 dB.
