Abstract
Cauvery Basin, in the southeastern passive margin of the Indian plate, evolved since the late Jurassic as a composite of rifted grabens and was part of the development of the divergent margin of India's east coast. The grabens, represented by Mesozoic sediment fill, are designated as sub-basins.
