Abstract

This paper reports the realization of harvesting acoustic energy based on the topological interface mode of a 1D phononic crystal (PC) tube. When the incidence sound is at eigenfrequency of the interface mode, the acoustic energy is localized at the interface that provides the feasibility for realizing acoustic energy harvesting (AEH) by using a piezoelectric cantilever plate. The results indicate that there is a 66 times acoustic pressure gain and a peak of generated voltage is observed at eigenfrequency of the interface mode. This study opens a new avenue for AEH based on topological interface modes of PCs.
