Abstract
The selection of potential sites for the deep disposal of radioactive waste and the subsequent near- and far-field monitoring is a complex scientific, technological, economical and political issue. The main scientific/technological problem concerns what set of observational methods, and their resultant geological and geophysical data, are considered valid in the context of selecting a site for a radioactive waste repository.
