Abstract

The paper deals with the diffraction of time−harmonic axisymmetric low−frequency acoustic waves by two concentric coaxial rigid spherical caps. An integral equation technique is used to solve this boundary value problem. Formulas are derived for the farfield amplitude as well as the scattering cross section when the incident wave is a low−frequency plane wave traveling along the common axis of the two caps. By taking an appropriate limit, the solution for the corresponding problem for a rigid spherical cap is also presented. Subject Classification: 20.30.
