Abstract

An empirical relation between the maximum ultrasonic absorption and frequency of ultrasonic wave in supercooled liquids and mixtures, differing widely in molecular weight and chemical composition, is reported. The viscoelastic and ultrasonic relaxation in most of these liquids are describable in terms of the Barlow-Erginsav-Lamb model.
