Abstract

Finite element methods are utilized to model loudspeaker as well as shaker generation of sound, shear, and interface waves in an elastic solid containing an imbedded elastic scatterer. Results for steady state (continuous) and transient (pulsed) insonification, animated in the time domain, are presented to illustrate excitation, propagation, and scattering mechanisms and features.
