Acis ionica (Amaryllidaceae), a new species from the Ionian area (W Greece, S Albania)

The morphological differences from its relatives are discussed and phytogeographical and karyological aspects of the group outlined. The chromosome number of the new species, 2n = 16, and its karyotype are shared with its closest relative, A. valentina from the Iberian Peninsula.
