Abstract

Acinic cell carcinoma (ACC) is an uncommon and gradually developing tumour primarily found in the major salivary glands, most frequently originating in the parotid gland and less commonly in the submandibular and sublingual glands. ACC represents 3 to 4% of parotid gland tumours, 2 to 6% of all salivary gland tumours, and 10 to 17% of all malignant tumours in the salivary glands.
