Abstract

Snakebite envenomation refers to the injection of venom through the fangs of snakes. In tropical countries like Brazil, there is a high incidence of snakebite cases in both humans and animals, making it a public health and economic issue, particularly in cattle farming. There are various species of snakes, with 76 being toxin producers. The effects caused by these toxins can vary, and the diagnosis is based on clinical history, physical examination, and characteristic clinical signs. Initial medical support should be provided as soon as possible to avoid secondary complications and death. Based on extensive literature review, therapeutic approaches in these situations should be adapted to each circumstance and patient need. Effective management is essential to ensure the good recovery of the affected animal.
