Abstract

A polyrotaxane with end moieties cleavable by acidic fission or photolytic cleavage was synthesized by end capping with (α,α-dimethyl-3,5-dimethoxybenzyloxy) carbonyl groups. The obtained polyrotaxane was subdivided into its molecular ring and axis components after treatment with neat trifluoroacetic acid at room temperature or irradiation with a high-pressure mercury lamp.
