Abstract On treatment with boron trifluoride etherate, 16β,17β-epoxydigitoxigenin 3-acetate undergoes unusual rearrangement leading to novel spiro compound and tetraenolide, whose 3-hydroxy derivative is one of the aglycon of neriumosides.
