Acid catalyzed reactions of alkyl nitrones, derivatives of 3-imidazolin-3-oxide

Abstract

1. Alkyl nitrones are capable of reacting with electrophilic reagents undar conditions of acid catalysis with replacement of an H atom of the alkyl nitrone group. 2. The nitrone group in the constitution of the heterocycle 3-imidazolin-3-oxide stabilizes the functional groups usually unstable in acid medium (nitroxyl radical center, nitrosamine, and acetal groups).
