Abstract

A comparative study of the acid-base properties and the complex-forming properties with copper(II) and zinc(II) ions of the pyrimidinic derivatives uracil and uridine and those of some homologous purinic compounds has been carried out. In order to perform this study, protonation constants for the equilibrium LH −1 + H ⇄ L, where L is the neutral ligand, and stability constants of copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes with the before said pyrimidinic derivatives as ligands are determined from emf data in aqueous solution at 37°C and 0.15 M NaNO 3 ionic strength. This study shows the formation of copper(II) dimeric species with both ligands.
