Abstract

SUMMARY Tracheal end-tidal gas samples were collected from 14 conscious resting horses with a needle and syringe fitted with a stop-cock. Carotid arterial samples were collected from the same horses immediately after collection of the gas samples. The mean values for Pco2 and Po2 of the gas samples were 43.7 ± 2.99 mm.Hg and 100.1 ± 4.32 mm.Hg respectively. The mean values for arterial blood Pco2 and Po2 were 44.9 ± 2.47 and 95.64 ± 5.4 mm.Hg.
