Abstract

By reaction between the labile complex cis-[Pd(C6F5)2(PhCN)2] and aqueous ammonia-acetone solutions the palladium complexes [Pd(C6F5)2L2] [L = NH3 (1), NHCMe2 (2) and L2 = NHC(Me)CH2C(Me2)NH2 (3)] are obtained. The reaction product depends on the experimental conditions used. The cationic complexes [Pd(dmba)L2]ClO4 [L = NH3 (5), NHCMe2 (6) and L2 = NH C(Me)CH2C(Me2)NH2 (7)] with the N,C-chelating 2-(dimethylaminomethyl)phenyl (dmba) ligand have been obtained by treating [(dmba)Pd(μ-Cl)2Pd(dmba)] with AgClO4 in aqueous ammonia−acetone solution. The mono(acetimine) complex [Pd(dmba)(PPh3)(NHCMe2)]ClO4 (8) is obtained by a similar procedure starting from [Pd(dmba)(PPh3)Cl]. The crystal structures of 1−3 and 6 and 7 have been determined; there is extensive hydrogen bonding (N−H···F−C or N−H···OClO3) in all the compounds.
