Abstract

Universal access to basic sanitation services has a great importance for the well-being of the population. And for the formulation of public policies aimed at expanding access to basic sanitation, it becomes relevant to analyze the characteristics of the access for these services. Thus, the present article aims to analyze the access for sanitary sewage of poor families, since these are the families most affected by the lack of access to this service in Brazil. In order to analyze the access for sanitary sewage of the poor families of Brazil, a multinomial logit model was estimated from the sampled micro data of the Cadastro Unico, the data refer to the year 2016. The results indicated a strong complementarity between the services of basic sanitation, we also identified important impacts of income, schooling and urban location of the household on the demand for sewage collection from poor families in Brazil.
