Abstract
The E2: M1 mixing and branching ratios of ΔI=1 transitions within a family of high- j quasiparticle levels are characteristically different in the decoupled and strong-coupled limits of the rotational model. The rapidly changing experimental values through a sequence of transitional cases, the i 13 2 levels of 161,163,165,167Yb, are shown to be accurately described with the wave functions of a BCS quasiparticle plus rotor calculation with an empirical Coriolis coupling strength chosen to reproduce observed level energies. However, certain discrepancies are also noted.
