Abstract

(BMJ. 2022;379:o2691) Maternal mortality has always been a pressing problem. Over time, deaths of pregnant and postpartum women have been significantly reduced by identifying and implementing interventions to make pregnancy and childbirth safer for both mothers and infants worldwide. Although the total number of deaths has been significantly reduced, a large number of preventable maternal deaths continue.
