Abstract

A novel and highly accurate algorithm for simulating the scattering from thin metal strips and penetration through narrow slots is presented for the transmission-line modelling (TLM) technique. This approach allows the incorporation of these fine features into numerical simulations whose discretisation is too coarse to directly resolve them, which is a very desirable capability for many scenarios such as those regularly encountered in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) studies. The technique functions by interfacing a set of local analytical solutions for the fields in the vicinity of the strip or slot with the fields present in the large-scale numerical simulation. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
