Abstract

Design details and exact values of electrostatic and stream fields of a new plate condenser mobility analyzer described elsewhere (Haaf,1980) are given. The conditions for thermal stability and laminarity of the respective flows are tested. Independent calibrations of the device are performed. Initial atmospheric size distribution measurements indicate that the true fraction charged for particles in the lower Aitken range lies between the Boltzmann law and the theory following Gentry (1972).
