Abstract

The accurate determination of major, minor and trace elements in two sediment reference materials is described. One material is from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (SRM 1646a), and the other is from the National Research Council of Canada (HISS-1). The analytical technique used was high accuracy instrumental neutron activation analysis. The procedures used are described, the problems found are discussed, and the results obtained are compared to the certified values for both CRMs.
