Abstract

The 'ripple field', i.e. the variation of the magnetic field for different positions of a moving part of an electric machine, can be computed accurately using the 'sliding surface mesh model. The spurious ripple solution for this model is by a factor of O(h/sup 1/2 /) lower than for the models involving mesh distortion (h is the mesh size). Theoretical error analysis and numerical results are presented.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
