Abstract

ABSTRACT THREE collectors commonly used in sprinkler evaluations were statistically evaluated under a uniform application impact sprinkler system for the percentages of mean water collected and the variation associated with each collector. The glass separatory precipitation funnel gage was shown to be the most accurate followed by the metal oil can. A device identified as the fuel funnel, which was hypothesized to have theoretical advantages over oil cans, was found to be inadequate for all sprinkler measurements at an application rate of 34 mm/h (1.3 in./h)..
