Abstract

The total error occurring in the measurement of power and reactive power in three-phase circuits is a combination of (a) errors inherent in the method of measurement, and (b) instrument and instrument transformer errors. The paper develops equations for the total error as a measurement uncertainty, in terms of symmetrical components, the method of measurement, i.e. type of wattmeter connection, and equipment errors. It is shown that great simplification may be achieved by using a Kron type matrix analysis.
