Abstract

In quantitative spectrograohic analysis, many factors govern its accuracy. Nonuniform sensitivity of photographic plate is to be considered as one of them.As to the uniformity of photographic plate, various values has been reported, but its influence on the quantitative spectrographic analysis has not yet been thoroughly estimated. The author has made a study on these problems and ascertained the actual conditions by experiments. The results are summarized as follows:1. Nonuniform sensitivity of the plate should not be neglected.2. But if internal-standard-method is used, the influence of this nonuniformity on quantitive spectrographic analysis can be reduced, and in this case, standard deviation in terms of the amount present is very small and is estimated at about ± 1.5% of the amount present, but care should be taken for the plate quality, for, this value can amount to as high as 10% if inferior quality plate is used.3. Thus it is to be concluded in general that the influence, caused by the other factors such as discharge condition, sample treatment and so on, should rather be made small in order to improve the accuracy of quantitative spectrographic analysis.
