Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: In November of 2005, Florida became the first state to publicly report performance outcome measures on hospitals, including the rates of care-associated post-operative sepsis (POS) and decubitus ulcer (DU). Those rates are determined by the state authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) using Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) data that provides 30 measures reflecting hospital volumes, mortality rates, utilization rates and patient safety. This study compares the POS and DU findings for one of our system hospitals as initially reported by the AHJ with our own ER.
