Abstract

A buffer gas trap is applied successfully to accumulate more than 105 low energy positrons created with the electron linear accelerator at AIST, which can provide 40 MeV electron bunches at 40 Hz with the peak current of about 100 mA and create the average current of ∼1 pA, 40 Hz low energy positron pulses. Also, the accumulated positrons are extracted as a pulsed beam to be used for future experiments.
