Abstract
Coating the inside of sex pheromone-baited funnel traps with insect trapping adhesive resulted in doubling of the catch of male spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana (Clemens). This result suggests that half the moths entering funnel traps escape. Dichlorvos-impregnated resin strips and a mixture of ethanol and ethylene glycol used as killing agents in nonsticky traps had a repellent effect; consequently, catches were reduced. Presence of dead moths in the traps also reduced catches.
