Abstract

The article looks at the evaluation of foreign language instructional programs, focusing on Internet-based programs including both commercial language-learning products and online courses offered by colleges and universities. The author notes the absence of data on the outcomes of such programs or how they compare to classroom-based instruction. She offers a set of questions or criteria for carrying out such evaluations.
