Abstract

Every engineering program contains statements of abilities, skills and attributes that must be gained by its graduates at the time of graduation, called the program outcomes. A capstone design course is a stronghold of the engineering curricula in achieving these outcomes if it is carefully designed and conducted. The paper describes an implementation of such a course in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at King Abdulaziz University. It discusses the organization of the course from situation description till final presentation and stresses the importance of an orientation course at the beginning. The project reports evaluated using outcome rubrics and they provide the best achievement examples of the program outcomes.
