Abstract
A case in which a 14-year-old girl accidentally swallowed an endodontic file has been reported. The instrument passed naturally through the alimentary tract within 1 week. Routine use of a rubber dam will prevent grave medical complications arising from the accidental swallowing of dental instruments. This precaution will relieve both the patient and the operator of unnecessary anxiety and make the practice of dentistry more efficient and enjoyable.
