Abstract

Economic growth and the commercialization of agricultural systems have enhanced the adoption of various technological interventions in the farming systems. The green revolution is one of the successful examples of technology interventions, which led to the agriculture transformation and thereby brought reduction in the hunger and poverty of India. Gender inequality is found in the access of various agricultural resources such as modern agricultural inputs, technologies, credit and land. Developments in technology have positively impacted farmers by providing better means to improve soil fertility, land productivity and thus increasing the overall agricultural output. In agriculture, pesticides play a major role in pest management and is used widely by both male and female farmers. One of the approaches for increasing agricultural incomes is to expand and strengthen access to agricultural technology interventions among farmers. A careful consideration of gendered needs and implications are essential for increasing the benefits of improved technologies to more people especially women.
