President Robert and fellow members: I wish to thank Jim Franklin for his wonderfully embellished comments regarding my place among past recipients of the Ralph W. Marsden Award. This is by far the most meaningful recognition that I have received in my career, precisely because it acknowledges contributions beyond my “regular job”—and what an honor to receive the award from my good friends and colleagues, Jim Franklin and Francois Robert.
