Acceptance of the 2003 Jean Hamburger Award

Abstract

In 1997, at the first World Congress of Nephrology in Sydney, I had the great honor—and even greater personal pleasure—of introducing two old friends and colleagues as they were presented with the Jean Hamburger Award: Priscilla Kincaid-Smith and Renee Habib. I thought little then that only 6 years later I would be receiving this award myself, and it is indeed a humbling experience to look through the list of previous awardees, not only Priscilla and Renee, but also, for example, Bob Schrier, my co-recipient this year.
