Abstract

Following the optimisation of image quality for an X ray system and successful acceptance testing, the operator in person must be able to control the current state of image quality at regular intervals in time (constancy testing). Because of decentralised organisation of health authorities in the Federal Republic of Germany, the number of users and the range of applications with which these users are involved is quite large. Consequently, it is necessary to require quality assurance with all X ray systems to be commensurate with the entire spectrum of applications. This requires only simple testing methods. Simple testing procedures which, nevertheless, yield conclusive information and do not require a long period of training are justifiable and also cost effective.
