Abstract

The various factors which can affect ordering in alloys are analyzed. The results of the analysis are applied to the ordering in Ni3(Mn, Me) (Me = Fe, Co, or Cr) alloys. It is concluded that the accelerated ordering in these cases is caused by a change in the ordering mechanism from a homogeneous mechanism in Ni3Mn to a heterogeneous mechanism in the ternary alloys and by an increase in the vacancy concentration due to doping.
