Abstract
The challenges associated with gene therapy bioprocessing are numerous and burdensome, from scalability to Cost of Goods control, and from ensuring quality/consistency to accessing sufficient capacity and expertise. The consensus of opinion in the field is that a largely or fully automated process based upon a single, easy-to-use platform would be optimal, as would the adoption of single-use technology. The majority of challenges that arise with testing of gene therapy materials relate to time and accuracy.
