Abstract
In gas-phase combustion processes, the regeneration of free atoms and radicals in chain propagation reactions enhances the diffusion flux of these species from the flame zone. In flame propagation in tubular reactors and in filtration combustion, this effect facilitates the access of chain carriers to the surface even at atmospheric pressure, increases the role of heterogeneous reactions (primarily chain termination), and enhances heat removal due to heterogeneous recombination.
