Abstract

Abstract Academic spin-offs are important instrument through which universities contribute to local economic development. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors for success as well as some objective barriers of academic spin-offs with a special focus on the management strategies and factors for success in these ventures. The article aims to propose insights on how spin-offs’ potential could be used to improve the conditions in less developed regions. The necessary changes arising from the current situation and the possible consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic are also taken into consideration.
