Abstract

AbstractThis chapter provides lists with city locations, degrees offered, and websites for Jewish Studies Programs, Holocaust and Genocide Studies Programs, Israel Studies Programs, Programs in Hebrew and Yiddish Languages, and Programs in Jewish Education, Jewish Social Work, and Nonprofit Jewish Management. All programs with majors also offer minors, so “Minor” is not listed. The chapter also includes (1) bibliographic information for books on North American Jewry; (2) names, descriptions, and websites for academic journals in or about North American Jewish communities; (3) scholarly articles on the study of North American Jewish communities; (4) names, descriptions, and websites for organizations for research on North American Jewish communities; and (5) names, descriptions, and websites for major Judaic research and Holocaust research libraries. The purpose of this chapter is to document the academic and research resources available to scholars and others researching North American Jewish communities. Each list is carefully updated each year, but the authors appreciate any corrections noted by our readers. We have found that the information we can find on the internet is far from accurate. For the results of a 2018 survey of Jewish Studies programs completed for the Association for Jewish Studies, see the American Jewish Year Book 2019, Section 14.1.2, pages 666-667.
