Academic Research and Creative Writing: Redrawing the Map and Finding One’s Allies (and avoiding the Corbett phenomena)

Abstract

Hopefully, in a more positive and productive way, creative writing academics can recognise the interdependencies between the creative writing discipline and other disciplines. In doing so they might be able to assist postgraduates to find a better way to think of their research, other than as a distraction from their ‘real’ creative work, by helping them to find a place to hold productive conversations with the many allies to befound among creative people across the university looking at the same kinds of issues from different perspectives.
