Abstract

The article deals with the peculiarities of the academic honesty course introduction in the conditions of higher education institution. Nowadays, academic honesty is the valuable guideline, which allows to create a powerful educational and scientific system. It allows to improve the quality of Ukrainian higher education and make domestic education competitive at the world market of educational services. The purpose of the article is to present the experience of the project of promoting academic honesty among first-year students at the Faculty of Social and Psychological Education in Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University. The project was guided according to the experience of the Ukrainian Catholic University, The National University of Ostroh Academy, National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”, Sumy State University and the Academic Honesty Promotion Project in Ukraine.It has been established that the implementation of the principles of academic honesty is also relevant for Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University. Nowadays, the university has developed a significant methodological framework that regulates the concept of academic honesty, in particular, the code of ethics, the code of academic honesty and other regulations approved by the university. Recommendations for reducing the manifestations of academic dishonesty among students and academics are considered. Qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the survey results of students’ knowledge and understanding of the academic honesty concept are analyzed. The article describes a set of lectures and training sessions aimed at promoting the principles of academic honesty in the conditions of higher education institution. Implementation of the academic honesty promotion project allowed to involve students into improving the educational process and its individual components, through the introduction of new forms and methods of working with students, as well as to increase the number of students participating in research up to 10 % (writing articles, abstracts). The project made it possible to create and shape values and a community of students for whom acts of dishonesty are unacceptable.
