Abstract

The effects of Ta substitution on the superconducting properties of and (Tl1-xTax)Sr2CaCu2O7forx= 0.1 to 0.3 were reported. The characterization includes X-Ray diffraction, resistivity versus temperature measurement and AC susceptibility. All samples were prepared by the solid-state reaction method. The X-Ray diffraction pattern displayed the presence of Tl-1212 as the major phase for all samples. The resistance versus temperature curves for samplex= 0.3 showed onset transition temperature,Tconset and zero transition temperature,Tczero at 47 K and 30 K, respectively. AC susceptibility measurement showed susceptibility transition temperature,Tc χ’at 24 K and 30 K for samplex= 0.2 and 0.3, respectively. This study showed that higher substitution of Ta enhanced the superconducting properties of Tl-1212 superconductor.
