Abstract

AC susceptibility and dc magnetization have been measured for Fe 65(Ni 1- x Mn x ) 35 alloys with 0.05 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.4. The magnetic phase diagram has been determined by ac susceptibility measurements and a reentrant spin glass region was found for x ⩽ 0.2. The characteristic features of the thermo-magnetization curves under finite external fields for the alloy with x = 0.25, which locates at the tricritical point, are discussed on the basis of a magnetic cluster model. The magnetic state of the reentrant spin glass region is also discussed by the cluster model and it is pointed out that dynamical characters of magnetic clusters are important in understanding the magnetic properties of this region.
